| why keep kenpo karate seperate from other karate styles when u don't seperate styles, like Wado-Ryu, Shotokan, Gojo-Ryu etc. which have a larger worldwide following than kenpo/kempo? I vote Wado Sport Karate!

I'm kind of torn because I've been training in karate for years, but I absolutely love tae kwon do. I voted karate though.. Meh.

My guess would be because Kenpo's of a Hawaiian origin whereas the other karate styles are (broadly speaking) still Japanese-based.

actually kenpo is american
surprised
started by Ed Parker around the 50's
the reason i kept it seperate is because its a diffrent philosophy to karate
same in most respects except moves and techniques are constantly being updated because so many of the martial arts forms are very dated
(when i was doing karate they were teaching me moves against swords! why?)
so kenpo is like a modern version
yeah i didnt seperate the other groups because i admitably no sod all about jui-jitsu
