Right maggots, summer training is back on as of today from seven to ten in the small sports hall every Monday. I'll be taking on beginners for a short period of time, after which the class will once again be closed so all who would like to attend had better be there quick-smart! Mat fees will be €5.00 for a full summer course of Monday classes, to be paid in advance.

Those of ye who ordered sparring gear, some of it has arrived but there was a mix-up with sizes on some of the gear so we'll have to look into it today at class.

In preparation, would all of my existing students please go to the Self-Defence website and get yourselves a copy of the Yellow and Orange belt syllabi. Print them out and read through them carefully. If there are any techniques you don't feel you know properly, bring it up in class and we'll drill them till they're perfect. Sensei Hodgins is around till the end of September so I'd like you all officially graded up by then.

Sensei Downes has a small stock (about ten) of official hardback World Kobudo Federation licences. These aren't in print any more but they're very nice indeed. All those interested in getting one, it will cost €20 for the actual booklet and the license fee for the year so it's well worth your while.

Lastly, Sensei Downes will be moving down to Maynooth next week and will possibly be setting up classes on another day of the week so I suggest you all get into shape and try tro make his classes as they are a unique opportunity to learn about the more combat-oriented applications of our style in ways that absolutely no-one else in this country can teach you.

See you all later

Mox

Spiked says he's not joining now.
Lolly is gone home which I might also be doing soon as well.
Plus if I go tonight I can't go for the next two weeks cos I won't be in Ireland--I is going on holidays
Cool

Just a side note:

The syllabus can be found on the self defence club website (http://minds.may.ie/~selfdefence) in the members section. If you don't have a password and think that you should, give me a pm, and I will (pending approval from sensei of course) sort you out with a username and password. Likewise, if anyone wants to change their existing password, you'll have to pm the password you currently have, and what you want it changed to to me.

Links that don't work on the website are links that don't currently exist. As soon as there's a page for them to link to, they'll work. I'll throw up a "coming coon" page when I have time.

Right so, allow me to be the first to say that I was quite happy with tonight's class. Everyone's standard had deteriorated far less than I'd expected, which is always good news.

The following people owe money to the club:
(Mat Fees+Gloves+Footpads)
Kila: €5+17.50+17.50=€40 (Now paid.)
Razz: €5+17.50+17.50=€40
Asmo: €5+17.50+0=€22.50 (Now paid.)
Estelindis: €5+17.50+0=€22.50 (Can I be said to have paid myself? If so, I have.)
Ragdoll: €5+17.50+0=€22.50
Thurifuge: €5+0+0=€5
Death Cherub: €5+0+0=€5

Does anyone want a WKF License too? At €20, they're a really good deal and you all need one by the time you grade under Sensei Downes or Sensei Hodgins.

Beginners:
Due to the need to keep my classes at a coherent, even if not necessarily uniform, standard, anybody who wishes to train with us over the summer has until the 28th of June to join up. After that the next opening for beginners will be the Monday immediately following Fairs Day.

[Edit: people who have paid me are noted above. ~Estelindis]

Sigh, I'm not gonna be there, sorry. I'm living and working in London for the summer, so it's a little far to go. So I guess I can't have a third yellow belt grading Laughing . I'll be back in September, and very annoyed that all the people that started after me and trained with me for so long will have passed me by to orange belt but such is life I guess. So I guess I can join in with all those beginners you're taking...

If you stop telling yourself that you sucked and stopped calling it bollocks then perhaps you may find yourself improving for once.

Lolly was going to come down to maynooth to train but the first Monday she might be able to go is the 5th of July. So what will I tell her?

I'm off on Saturday for 10 days and won't be back til 3 or 4pm on the 28th of June. So...

Well I had fun last night. I cant straighten my right arm fully but thats the height of my hurting. Must apologise again to Moxie, Estilindis and Kila for the facial damage during sparing training.

I will probably take a license, depending on how much I get paid on Saturday. Is it immediate or will some be available at the end of July?

Okay guys, training is officially on two nights a week at the following times:
    Monday, 19:00-22:00
    Thursday, 20:00-22:00

I'll be teaching on Mondays and Sensei Downes will be teaching on Thursdays. In order to properly benefit from this summer course, it willbe vital to attend both weekly classes.

Also, I want everybody to have carefully read the yellow and orange belt syllabi by this evening and have at least made a note of any techniques they have trouble with. The heat is on, people, so make sure you know your shit.

Do beginners go on Thursdays?
Someone mentioned that class to me earlier but said he didn't think beginners had to go.

Everyone read the syllabus?
Any particular techniques that need to be gone over?
We're running out of time before y'all get the almighty fuck graded out of you so if you're not sure about something then may I humbly (hah!) suggest telling me so we can polish it?

My apologies but, as you know, my work schedule has been a bit packed for the last week or so. I have read through the syllabus, although not in the last week or two as I really have not had the time.

Should have time over the weekend, I'll look over it again then and make a note of stuff I don't know.
