I've noticed something. I think seasoned Martial Arts Instructors have a certain air about them. For example, I met my cousin's husband's sister's boyfriend at the weekend. I thought there was something I recognised about him, not that I knew him, but a quality I recognised. When he told me that he's been teaching Karate for over a decade I thought 'ah, that's what it is'. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Actually, although many of the instructors I know have that certain *air* about them, on the train yesterday I met a veteran shotokan instructor who drank on the train, carried a puppy in a bag of tools (brought him to work everyday), and spilled his beer all over the floor when he was getting off (and asked *me* to pick it up without any semblance of shame). Nice guy, but... Possibly had the opposite of *presence*...

Some really seasoned instructors walk with a certain air, they're more graceful, but have a kind of readiness about them. Not all of them though..

Most of us do, and it's due to the almost preternatural connection to people's Chi that only the most seasoned martial artists can cultivate.

Nope I wouldn't notice unless they splatted me. Some people do walk with an air of readiness but they could just as easily be a boxer or a ballerina or a gymnast for all I know.

in the context of m0x1e's post, exactly what are you implying but "splatted". Have martial artist "splatted" you before?
