This is really more brainstorming than anything else - would there be interest in getting the gear if we were to do it next year? (hoodies and the like, maybe t-shirts, I dunno). If so, what kind of gear would people be interested in?
I don't know about subsidies and such yet - we'll have to wait til we get our capitation amount, decide what if anything the club needs to buy, and how it'll fit into our (really great!) treasurer Estelindis' budget.
Probably the standard NUIM crest and self defence on the front, and maybe something like the banner at the top of the website on the back (without the fan and sun in the background - just the japanese characters and the words).
Thoughts?

Do we have badges we can sew on to our dogis? that'd be sweet.
i'd go for a top and pantaloons effort i guess, if it'd brign up the numbers.
ooh and call signs. i'd be maverick, cos i'd look kinda gay being that macho.
or goose, cos after a sess i always feel half dead.

I can't say I understood all of that (you want us to geet branded trousers?! pantaloons!), but good to know you're supporting me <grin>
We don't have badges, if there's enough interest maybe we could look into it.

I personally would like a hoody, but t-shirts could also be cool and possibly provide another shirt for me to train in, which is a definite plus <grin>

| Yeah I'm afraid that I don't usually wear my full dogi so t-shirts sound cool. I have no Nuim branded stuff at all and this'll be the start of my final year so It'd be nice to have some stuff with both the club I'm most actively involved in and the college logo on it. Sounds cool.

just as a reference point - the current banner at the top of the website is
I don't think the sun/fan thing on the right hand side would work if it wasn't faded into the background (which we can't really do on branded gear afaik), so without that, it would look something like this:
If it's a navy/black hoodie, then it would probably be white on the black.

on black:
on navy:
Had a little free time so tinkered with the banner colors to make these.

You would have to have a different opinion I dunno I'd like a black background with red writeing- make it look evil. Or purple the most divine colour on earth, well in my opinion anyways.

Bear in mind I just made those images to show what I was talking about (ie, the image would be white text on dark background type thing).
It would probably depend on cost and options as to whether they're black or navy, or both (as in we get both colours and people can have one of each). I reckon that if we do decide to get clothes, we can decide on a colour then. I'm just thinking ahead of time here, because I dug up the Self Defence Club folder I got at C&S training and was looking over the capitation handbook and some of the notes I took last year.
I personally quite like them both, and I reckon I'd have a hard time choosing...

I personally would be up for a tshirt because as Ragdoll said, it would be nice to have somethign to train in. Id have to have a white one though, to keep with my normal training colours.
Hoodies would be cool too and I like the idea of the logo on the back (akin to aikido ones). There I would go for black ones.
Patches for kekogis are a good idea too. Suggestins on how they would look though? Same dealy?

I'd go for a hoodie and a t-shirt, both sound great to me.
one thing, please no scripting on the back of the hoodie...please! It's the only reason I didn't go for an Aikido hoodie this year.
As a suggestion, why not a Maynooth hoodie but with the WKF fan instead of the NUIM crest and Self-Defence Club written underneath?

No scripting as in no writing at all on the back? Why?

Ya know, I tried to think of a way to answer this without being offensive to the Aikido club but I can't. Basically the big, plasticky writing on the back of the Aikido hoodies makes them look really cheap and nasty. The front logos are nice because they're stitched in and look like they were meant to be there. Back prints should be something that happens on T-shirts and superhero capes only, I'm afraid.

Cool, that would be really nice. Sort of like the Judo club's bloke-doing-a-stomach-throw insignia but also a nice way to wear federation allegiance, something I always felt the Freestyle Martial Arts hoodies were missing.
Kuntyfuks, does the Green Dragon have a crest/logo/insignia of any sort?
