Ancient Astronomy: The Egyptian View of the Sky

Sarah Symons is a researcher at the University of Leicester, where she is the Project Manager with , a group dedicated to raising the profile of problem-based learning in physics and astronomy courses
She will be speaking on the practice of astronomy in Ancient Egypt, dealing with how the evidence points towards a long tradition of observations, not merely linked to relgious ritual. She will also discuss the extent and applications of astronomical knowledge in Ancient Egypt
This, the last talk of the academic year, will take place in JH4 at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 24th. Wine, pringles and snacks afterwards, with hopefully a trip to the roof observatory!
