The Big Bang was started by Eoin Butler way back in 2003 when he was roped onto the committee as a first year. It was a huge success in the first year, and won the Nexus/IOP Best Student Newsletter Prize but unfortunately dropped by the wayside while Eoin was President in 2004-05. It was re-established (again by the now Vice-President Eoin) in 2005, and in 2006 has been taken on by John Kirwan.
The Big bang is published about three times a semester, but it varies somewhat depending on the college workload and any special events Astro2 is running. The newsletter is widely read amongst the society's members and the Exp Physics/Astrophysics population.
John is always looking for willing volunteers to write some articles for him, so if you have an idea, or would like to contribute, don't hesitate to get in touch at astro2@minds.nuim.ie.
